2020.09.29 09:16 bleuhydrangeas please let me get this all out once + for all (super long post)

just wanted to make a note before i begin since the person i am writing about knows of my account:
i didn't bother making a throwaway to post this because it's nothing i'm embarrassed / anxious of if you were to come across this.
the odd chance that M sees this post (since we've mentioned reddit quite recently): things are only going to get better from here and i'm glad at least a new friendship has come out of such an unfortunate experience.
it's fine if no one actually ends up reading this post in its entirety-- i just need to get it out of my system.
here we go, it's a long one:
seven months ago when we broke up for the first time i would check this subreddit first thing every morning when i woke up, and it would be the last thing i would do before i went to sleep at night. it brought me comfort knowing that i wasn't alone, and that there were other people out there feeling the same sickening, nearly lethal heartache.
the day we broke up, we were supposed to go out and study. actually now that i think about it, we weren't even supposed to meet up. i had made plans with my friend, but because it ended up being a snow day it meant i got to leave early, i cancelled everything just so i could be with you (G). i was so excited to see you. i had been so stressed about my assignments and you never failed to bring me comfort. when i saw you, you had this look on your face and i could see that you were in a tremendous amount of discomfort. you didn't even say hi to me, you just had that look on your face. i asked if you were okay and all you said was, "do you really want to know?" of course i wanted to know, you looked so disgusted! it felt like my life had flashed before my eyes, like i had dropped from the 40th level of some building downtown. that's when you told me that we should stop seeing each other. i froze and all that could come out was a monotone "okay." i remember you asking why i was acting so cool about it, what was i supposed to do? lose my shit? we went back to your place, talked about it, cried, and actually slept together for which i thought would really be the last time. you knew i was going to california with my father in a week because we had to give away our family dog to a distant relative. you told me to reach out when i was saying bye to her, because you wanted to be there for me as emotional support. when i left your place you told me you were going out to study with a school friend (M) right after, one i never had a good feeling about from the start. if this breakup was as devastating as you made it out to be, how could you even be in the mood to be in public? i remember i got shitfaced to the point where i could barely even walk that night.
it took me a while to distance myself. i deleted every social media platform just so i could prevent myself from checking in on you, even though you barely posted, when you went away for the holidays. there were dreadful nights where i would be so tempted to reinstall everything, just so i could get a glimpse of what you were up to. i barely slept or ate. i lost about ten pounds. whenever i managed to rest for a few hours, you would always find a way to barge back into my mind through my dreams. each time this happened i would wake up sick to the stomach, in tears. i kept myself busy and i tried to think about other things: i thought about how the spring weather in california was so different from how it was back home. i thought about the i-5 and how it seemed like an eternal, eerie journey that was leading us nowhere. these useless attempts never worked, my mind would always lead me back to you. i thought about how the weather in chicago would be like for you. did you go see any notable art galleries? did they make you think of me? during the second week you were away, i finally gathered the courage to reach out to you. i think i really was missing you, missing us. i got so anxious realizing that i was finally going to directly contact you. we small-talked for a bit and towards the end you said, if it wasn't too soon, that you'd love to take me out to dinner when you were back next week. i was elated, all i wanted to do was see you.
up to that point we had only gone to this restaurant a handful of times. i was nervous, but there was still that familiar comfort lingering in the atmosphere we were in. we talked about our trips and how we were both a bit nervous coming into this dinner. halfway through it seemed like we slowly let our guard down and it was just like every other date night we ever had. you walked me to the train and ended up taking it with me. your stop was three before mine. it really just felt like how things were when we were together. when it was time for you to go, you kissed me goodbye as the doors opened. as surprised as i was, i was really hoping you would.
we grabbed dinner the next week and overtime we starting seeing each other regularly again. i felt like maybe you had enough time to think things over, and that maybe, just maybe, you regretted breaking up with me.
a few weeks later i sheepishly asked what we were doing and where we were headed. you told me that as good as what we were doing felt, it was not the proper way for us to handle things (i agreed). you also said that you were not wanting a relationship and that we should take a step back. i felt like you shouldn't have initiated the things you did, especially knowing how long it took for me to finally come around to the idea of opening up my heart to you for a second time. so we decided for things to be platonic. i still went through with it, even with all my feelings for you, because i always said that you were someone i wanted in my life no matter what.
so we went out maybe three weeks after, just as friends. it was hard, but i tried to keep my distance as much as possible and see you as someone i only lightly cared about. it was actually quite fun. it was a beautiful april afternoon and we had such a great time picnicking. we walked around looking for a washroom afterwards because you really needed to pee. i remember laughing so hard, since there were no public washrooms in sight, you went right in-between two buildings in plain sight and almost got caught. when it was time for us to part ways you asked if it was okay for you hug me, since things were the way they were. "of course you can" was what i told you, all i wanted was to hold you.
anyways, besides the few weeks i decided to distance myself from you because our next plans had fallen through, we met up at the beach exactly a month after the picnic. i was with my friend and you arrived conveniently right after he left. (i know you did this purposely because i saw when you got there about fifteen minutes prior in my peripheral vision) i'm not sure why you didn't bring a towel but you ended sharing my yoga mat with me. we were talking about life and whatever it was and for some reason you decided to kiss me. it was such a confusing thing to experience, but i was such a fool in love for you. although i tried to see things far, far from romantic, i still loved you so much. i felt like maybe you had thought about it for some time and that you wanted to rekindle things with me, ...again.
yeah maybe i did remake a tinder just to pass some time for meaningless entertainment, but all i usually did was swipe left on everyone. secretly, i was trying to see if i would come across you. the thing is, once you kissed me and started talking to me like you normally would again, i cut off the multiple people i was talking to. you were always on the top of my list of priorities and importance. i loved you with all my heart and that was something you were well aware of.
a few days later you messaged me saying that it made you queasy if either of us were talking to other people, that you were hesitant to get close again if that was the case. like before, you said that we should take a step back. i was presented with such stress and anxiety. i felt like things were getting good again and out of nowhere everything just suddenly collapsed on me. i told you that i cut everyone off and that i wish you could see it from my position / where i was coming from. i told you that i really would not have it in me if we were to fall back, only to come back together again, in another month. you agreed and said we should feel things out, as long as we were open and honest with each other everything would be fine.
at this point we started dating properly again. unfortunately to you "feeling things out" meant that you had the expectations of a full on, monogamous relationship, except you never wanted to put a title on it or feel committed. it was torturous for me, i was always on my toes and tried to be everything i thought you wanted me to be. i was scared if i slipped up in any way that you would automatically discard me once again, with no hesitation. i would constantly feel insecure and question if you were still seeing that one ex (L) who was nasty to me from when we first started dating (it was my greatest fear). however, you would tell me all the time that you guys were just friends or that she was just being friendly with you. you told me that if i ever had any problems that you would be there to consult / reassure me whenever i needed.
anyways fast forward, things seemed to be wonderful with us again, blah blah blah. one night in may when i came over i saw the envelope of developed pictures i had left at your place since november. i picked them up and looked through them, reminiscing my trip from last summer in japan. as i was placing them back in your nightstand, i saw that there was a drawn portrait of you, hidden under scrap paper. i was curious, have i ever seen it before? you were in the washroom and i pulled it out and flipped it over. it had a date and M's name on it. as a practicing artist myself, i know that no one in their right mind would put time off to draw just anyone. doing (and gifting) a portrait of someone is something we don't do lightly. you put hours and hours aside to study every single one of their features. it would be so mortifying to even let the subject see any unlikeliness / anything i'm not proud of. you told me that it was just a "weird" gift and that you guys were nothing but friends. it never sat well with me, especially having you tell me before that she liked you, but i tried to shrug it off.
now with this occupying my mind rent-free, i constantly questioned if any of these women were still in your life or if i was just losing my mind due to insecurity. each time i brought it up you would tell me the same thing; that these were just your friends and that i had nothing to worry about. that you loved me, and only wanted me. it was so strange to me because i felt so crazy. i'm someone who isn't overly confident, but someone who's secure and comfortable with the way they are. how come i was feeling all of this? you made it seem like maybe it was because i was possessive and cared for you too much or something.
a few months later (august) i was selling the totebags i had painted. L reached out and expressed interest in purchasing one of them. when i told you, you got a bit tense when i mentioned that i was going to hand it over while grabbing dinner with her. you would constantly mention how it was such a nice gesture for her to purchase my art. i told you that you didn't have to make it seem like she's supporting me, because she feels bad for doing what she did in the beginning (i thought) of our relationship. i was actually very nervous to see her again, because every time i did, i felt like i was indirectly rubbing our relationship in her face. i asked you prior to meeting up with L if you had mentioned that we're seeing each other again and you told me you hadn't. i thought that was strange and questioned why not. you told me it was because she responded to it awfully the first time she found out we were dating. hearing that was so ridiculous to me. why does her reaction matter? shouldn't my feelings matter? you are dating me, not her, why aren't you prioritizing my feelings?
during that dinner i found out through L that you were actually seeing her again after we broke up. in fact, you went and slept with her the next night. hearing that was so sick. considering that we broke up on a tuesday and that i saw you again that weekend and slept with you once more before you left. you said you were seeing L the whole time up until june. when i went home i bawled my eyes out. it was my birthday in a week and i couldn't believe that this was really happening to me. we facetimed and called all night. you swore up and down that the last time you slept with her was in june. i told you that i honestly would consider overlooking it, if you really were wanting to work through it / be with me. you told me you were willing to do anything to keep this relationship, so i believed you. the next morning, i woke up to about 20 messages from L, she said that you guys had broken up in june, but slept together more recently. i wasn't sure if that was true so i asked you. you said that you "could check" because you "didn't remember." ever so nonchalant, you said "oh it says july third." again i foolishly said that it's in the past, if you really want me, my statement still stands. you expressed you were ever so grateful for my forgiveness and that you'll do anything to build my trust again.
a few days later, you told me that you no longer had any reservation towards being with me properly and that you already thought we were on boyfriend / girlfriend terms. you told me that you realized how much you really needed me in your life and that our connection was never this deep. i told you i never assumed what we were and you asked me if i wanted to be your girlfriend.
my birthday came around and we went on a short weekend getaway. (i thought) we had such an amazing time. i told all my friends that it felt like you really were being honest with me and that things were almost perfect. when we came back school started for me and i was getting busy again.
one night when we were at the restaurant we always went to, i told you to check your phone because i had sent you a funny photo while you were in the washroom. when your phone lit up and you pressed instagram on your lockscreen, all the notifications dropped and i noticed there were numerous alerts. i thought it was so strange that someone was messaging you non-stop, and that there was only one singular notification from me. i didn't say anything because i didn't think much of it, you have friends and so do i. however, i did remember to catch the display name of the account and when you left to go to the washroom once more before we left, i searched your following. i always told you that i hated the idea of me having to patrol you like CCTV, this was exactly what i felt like i was doing. i found the account and saw that only your roommates were following them, which i thought it was weird. i followed other people you went to school with. so if it was a school friend, why didn't these other people follow them too? anyways, i messaged one of your roommates and they told me it was M. it felt like all the paranoia in the world came out of nowhere and just consumed me. you came out of the washroom and you asked me what was wrong because i spaced out without realizing. i thought about whether i should even bring it up, but i did. you told me that it was M, that you two were friends, that it was nothing to be worried about. she just showed you a pic of her cat! out of curiosity i really wanted to see, too. i love cats. you said that you'd show me if she posted it on her story. why couldn't you just ask for a pic to show me...? since we were "official" again? to me, if she was only a friend, why would it matter if your girlfriend wanted to see a picture? everyone knows that pet owners are ALWAYS willing to share pics and typically have hundreds, if not thousands, ready at any given time. as much as i tried to believe that, a part of me knew you were lying. you would always get so nervous whenever i was silent, trying to gather my own thoughts. as we were leaving the restaurant you noticed i was silent and told me to not let that sour my night. you told me that it made sense if i was sad over L because you two shared a past, but you never had a past with M. that you were friends when we were dating, when we weren't, and now when we were again, so it shouldn't be a problem. i asked if you told her i was dating you again. you gave me the most obnoxious "yeah" and i asked when you told her. you hesitated and said "since we were seeing each other properly again in june" and that you hadn't seen her in months.
at some point L asked to retrieve a pair of her pants back and i got so upset after we saw her. i told you that i was unhappy (as you always told me to mention if i was), but you told me that you could only "reassure me so much / take me so far" and that it was "getting exhausting." you always told me that i "either trust [you] or i don't." i really wanted to call things off then, but i felt like we were doing so good and i wanted to keep making you happy, since i've already put so much effort into doing so.
i thought about the M chat for a few days and found it quite strange. so i decided to follow M myself and ask for a photo of her cat. she did send me a photo (her cat is actually very, very cute) and we started small talking. because M was now in my recent PMs, i could see when she was / wasn't online. on thursday night you were out with your friends and hanging out their place after. it was a rainy night and you were biking. i started to get nervous and worried for you because you would be online (so would M) but not respond, and i didn't know whether you were safe or not. at this point it would've been midnight. i am not someone who constantly needs to know where you are, i just want to know that you're safe and that is all. you would be online and it would mirror when M was online. now i was starting to think if i should ask her if she knows we're dating. i thought that it was crazy of me to think that way, but i felt like i had nothing to lose. we weren't really talking consistently but in hindsight it now makes sense, because to her i was just a random person from your past who's suddenly messaging her.
that night i had a feeling that things were going to unfold the way i thought they would. i probably only got about an hour or two of sleep. i would look on instagram to frequently check M, if she's seen or replied to my messages. the entire night i had chills and my entire body was trembling. you were online in the morning and so was she. for some strange reason you were online for an hour but never sent me a good morning text like you usually did. when M got back to me, continued the small talk, and asked a question back out of politeness, i responded to her but also asked; "does G tell you that i'm just his friend?" although i wanted to believe that she was going to say no, i did not feel gut-wrenching pain when she responded with, "yes, why?" i knew this was going to happen and i knew that the god awful paranoia i had felt for months wasn't just from me being insecure. i finally felt free. i didn't even cry. when M confirmed this i actually let out a laugh. obviously it wasn't funny, it was so fucking sick.
long story short, she cancelled the plans you guys had for that night (i was supposed to see you the next morning) and we ended up meeting instead. you texted us both about coming clean since i'm sure you realized everything was about to crash and burn.
i thought i'd be a bit sad, but i didn't even feel numb like i usually do. it felt like a moment of relief, like a huge elephant had finally been removed from standing on my chest. i met up with you friday night and i thought i said everything i wanted to, but i unexpectedly woke up at 3AM with a heavy chest. since you decided that blocking me everywhere was the (cowardly i must say) way to go, i took out my journal and pretended it was a note to you. i think this is the last thing i want to say to you:
goodbye G. please never come back into my life. i will always wish you the best but i can only do that from afar now. please do not disturb my peace and i will do the same for you. i thought we finally had something good again, turns out it was anything but that. i believed in you and all you did was take advantage of the all trust i had for you. all you did was make me question myself time and time again, when in reality it was you who came up short. the problem was never me, it was always YOU. you are so cruel and you will never truly understand the pain you put me through. goodbye forever.
+ when you said that you're "blocking everything but my phone number / but to not call because you won't answer," it was so off-putting. just so you know, i do not have any interest in talking to you and it was so egoistic of you to say. your number is blocked so again, do not disturb my peace.
this has probably been presented to me in the best way possible, i uncovered everything i was ever suspicious about and can now let it go. you brought me so much hell and i am finally free from it all.

-Fire Lord Izumi is voiced by April Stewart who also plays Ravaa.
-Izumi's reluctance to attack Kuvira first might be a reference to Japan's post-WWII pacificsm.
Overview:
As a group of tourists led by Ryu wanders through Republic City's Spirit Wilds, they are suddenly attacked and captured by the vines. Jinora, Korra, and Opal investigate their disappearance; Korra reads the vines' energy and discovers that Kuvira is harvesting vines from the Foggy Swamp. While Jinora continues her search in the Wilds, Korra and Opal leave to inform President Raiko about the situation. Arriving at City Hall, they interrupt the world leaders as they debate which course of action to take against Kuvira. Varrick and Bolin arrive moments later as well and deliver the same message as Korra and Opal. A decision is made to strengthen the United Republic's borders, and Opal and Lin, apart from the others, decide to rescue their family in Zaofu by themselves. Korra tries to meditate into the Spirit World, but she again finds herself incapacitated by visions of Zaheer. Korra decides to confront him in his prison. 2020.09.29 03:28 andysislands How to Read/Watch & Support the Shaman King Series -- [Updated September 2020]

Starting in 1998, the series of Shaman King is a story of cancellations, continuations, and various restarts along the way. As such, it's no easy task to explain what is available and how to read it. But let's give it a shot!

Manga Reading Order

The "main storyline" of Shaman King follows this path in these series:
  1. Shaman King (via one of the following): • Original 32 volumes + the "Kang Zeng Bang" (KZB) chapters • Kodansha's new 35 volume edition
  2. Shaman King Zero
  3. Shaman King Flowers
  4. Shaman King Red Crimson
  5. Shaman King The Super Star
  6. Shaman King Marcos
While Red Crimson and Marcos are both more gritty spin-offs, they contribute to the main storyline. You can read Red Crimson and The Super Star (The main storyline) in either order. Marcos is ideally read after Red Crimson as it starts with some minor spoilers for the end of Red Crimson.

Where/How to Read the Manga

Currently the Shaman King manga series has been licensed in English by Kodansha Comics. They will be publishing the manga in both digital and print formats. Their license is for English-speaking worldwide, so there will not be any regional restrictions for the spin-off and sequels. Previously the original 32 volumes were published by Viz Media in English, and can only be found in print-form by 2nd hand markets.
Kodansha Comics has announced the following for the English release of Shaman King series:
Shaman King Marcos has not been licensed in English yet.
If you have an English "Amazon Prime" account, you will be able to read all of the original Shaman King manga (35 volumes) for free. This is part of the Kindle Unlimited and Comixology Unlimited program that comes with your Amazon Prime account. If you do not have an Amazon Prime account (or Comixology Unlimited), you can individually purchase the volumes digitally.
The manga series in Japanese is available to purchase digitally from online retailers such as Bookwalker. These digital versions from Bookwalker do NOT have any region restrictions, so it's a great way to support the series, and the check-out process can be in English if you have an account from the Global side. All of Hiroyuki Takei's series can be found here. Print and digital editions are also slowly being released around the world as well.
A list of the current licensing & publishing status of the Shaman King manga series around the world can be found here.
Any scanlation for any licensed series should be removed as there are official means to read it in English available. Please support the series via the official English and Japanese releases as they are released.

Current and Ongoing Manga Series

There are two series currently being published in "Shonen Magazine Edge" in Japan. These are Shaman King The Super Star and Shaman King Marcos. The magazine releases monthly on or around the 17th of every month. Typically there is at least one chapter of each series in the issue. The series Shaman King Red Crimson also released in this magazine, and is now completely published in Japan.
A list of which chapters are in which in each issue of Shonen Magazine Edge can be found here (and can be purchased digitally from Bookwalker as well).

The Original Anime Series

Originally released in 2001, it was later adapted into an English-audio dub by 4Kids. An entire English dubbed or subtitled official release has not occurred yet. All DVDs are out of print in all regions around the world and no Blu-Ray release has been made.
Currently the original Shaman King anime is available on various region-restricted streaming platforms in Japan. These are Japanese audio only with no English subtitles. In France, Anime Digital Network (ADN) is currently streaming the French dub of the anime. Otherwise, there is currently no legal streaming for the original anime in English.
For a full list of where the original Shaman King anime was released you can view this list: http://www.patch-cafe.net/?page_id=3040

The Upcoming New Anime Series (2021)

Starting in April 2021 a new Shaman King anime series will be released which will adapt the entire storyline of the Shaman King manga. This should be a more faithful adaptation of all 300 chapters, unlike the original which diverted around volume 17 of the manga. As we move closer to that date, more information will be announced.

Staying Up-To-Date

There are several sources of information you can follow for the latest news that is Shaman King specific. Often the Twitter accounts are updated more frequently.

2020.09.28 10:40 Ford456fgfd [Blythe dolls] Betrayal and backlash in the big-eyed doll community when a convention organizer loses $23K

WHO IS BLYTHE
Blythe was a fashion doll produced by Kenner (perhaps better known as the Star Wars figures company) for a single year in the seventies. Inspired by Betty Boop, she had a large head and huge eyes, with the gimmick that when you pulled a string on the back of her head, her eyes closed, and when they opened they changed color and expression.
Groovy and glam Blythe did not do well in the toy market, probably because many found her proportions and wide-eyed stare unsettling, as many* still do. However, decades later she was rediscovered, and when TV producer Gina Garan was introduced to creative director Junko Wong and released a book of photography entitled THIS IS BLYTHE featuring the doll, Blythe was catapulted into the spotlight.
Blythe fever swept the world, she appeared in ad campaigns for Target’s Alexander McQueen collab and on boxes of hair dye, and Japanese company Takara, makers of the extremely popular Licca doll, acquired the rights to her image and began producing reproductions in fresh, modernized outfits and hairstyles, ushering in a new era of rabid fans. The craze took root in Japan (always ahead of the curve when it comes to big-eyed cuteness) and rapidly spread to the western world, including a bustling North American fanbase. Blythe had finally found her audience, and a diverse audience it was—she attracted toy collectors, old women, elitist BJD fans, hobby seamstresses, sculptors, goths, pastel kawaii princesses, pop surrealist artists, and more, all united by their love of Blythe’s quirky looks and the burgeoning and extremely popular customization community that kept pushing the limits of what a Blythe could look like.
The community thrived on Flickr and on several message boards, perhaps most notably a forum that we will call Blythe Castle, a fantasy-themed wonderland of buying, selling, trading, generous hints-and-tips sharing, and photo exchanging. The community grew both expansive and tightly-knit, engaging in photo challenges, sharing mail, and having community in-jokes and memes. Eventually it became clear that with such a diverse fanbase uniting so passionately over one hobby, a convention simply must take place—and so Blythecons began.
BLYTHECON
The first couple of American Blythecons—and the Blythecons in other countries—aren’t relevant to this post. Suffice to say that they were a smash hit, the vendors did a brisk business, photos of giant piles of big-eyed dolls arranged on staircases flooded Flickr pages, and everyone had a grand old time planning for next year. Information for those early days—including for the drama we are about to discuss—has largely been lost to the sands of time, so I apologize for any gaps in detail.
Blythecon 2012 went off swimmingly with no major hiccups, and kudos poured in for the event organizers, including two Blythe Castle administrators: we’ll call them Eri and Red. Despite neither of them living anywhere close to Dallas, the city in which the con was held, they organized remotely and the attendees, to judge from the internet chatter at the time, had a great time. Blythecon 2012 showed the community shaping up into a real force: there were demonstrations, contests, and immediate plans for Blythecon 2013, to be held in New York City in October.
Prebooked tickets sold briskly in 2012 and the community was from an early date abuzz with excitement about the upcoming event, which promised to be even better than the Dallas show. Plans were made early, despite an unusual lack of communication coming down from above about concrete details.
People had faith in Red and Eri after the enormous success of the previous year, and held tight despite the occasional uneasiness as the con date crept closer. Which made it all the more shocking when eventually, just a month before the convention was scheduled to occur, Eri made a public post on a journal devoted to chronicling scammers and shady business dealings in the dolly community, and the information rapidly spread across the Castle.
THE EXPOSURE
The explosive post was brief, but ugly: Red had informed Eri that the Blythecon money, which had been kept in Red’s personal account, had been garnished. A grim line in the post summed up the situation in brief: “$23428.18 is gone. I have received $3893.36 back and will need $8906.64 by next Friday, to make BlytheCon happen.”
Red was apparently selling dolls on the Blythe Castle forums to attempt to recoup the money. In the comments to the post, Eri laid out the entire email history between herself and Red—at least dating from the time that Red finally began answering emails, as she had apparently been ignoring them.
In the lengthy discussions that followed—dating back to mid-August for a convention, remember, slated to happen in October—Red claimed that the money had been garnished a month before, and that she had attempted suicide in the aftermath. She repeatedly brought up her suicide attempt, her mental health, and her limited internet access (unexplained), until Eri was compelled to state, firmly, that feelings of guilt were not relevant to the conversation: the money needed to be accounted for, and quickly, or Eri would have to call off the event.
Eri in the emails also mentions the grim reality of her own situation: while Red’s name is on the financials, her own name is on the event, and when this all comes crumbling down she will not only face public backlash in a community where many people have her address and contact information, she can be—according to her lawyer—held legally an accomplice. She demands Red come clean publicly, even if it has to be in a vague way, and Red demurs, saying that her own legal advice had been to the contrary, apparently not realizing why Eri is asking this of her.
In the increasingly cagey series of emails Red makes various promises to supply money from this or that location on some future date, and offers to send Eri a pile of dolls and “sundries” (clothes and accessories for dolls) to sell to raise funds, then continues to be cagey about the tracking numbers for said packages. She says that cancelling the event would not “be fair” for attendees, in a moment that one can only describe as a little tone-deaf. Eri, having run out of ultimatums and having involved the police, went public.
Understandably, all hell broke loose. I myself discovered this when returning from a long hiatus and finding Red’s username on the forum with BANNED written under it, several deleted threads, and a notably sluggish and uninvolved community that had been bouncing along speedily months before, in a moment akin to touching one’s fingertips to the ground and murmuring “some great violence occurred here.” But for the moment, there was still a loud contingent of people who insisted: the show must go on. The convention must continue. The money must be gotten, the ticketholders must have something to show for their funds, and the convention, despite everything, must be held.
The promised box of dolls and sundries arrived to Eri two days after the situation went public, and Eri began selling off the dolls to raise money to secure the venue. In the meantime Red continued finalizing sales of dolls she had listed on the Castle forums, and donations poured in from some generous anonymous benefactors, listed by initial in an update post by Eri to assure people that yes—the funds were coming together, and the convention would not, despite everything, be canceled. Eri also mentioned that one member of the community had gotten in touch with an offer to act as financial adviser which she—wisely—had accepted. Equally wisely, she had insisted to Red that money raised from Red’s doll sales be sent to an independent Paypal account and not Eri’s own personal one.
In the meantime, Eri came under scrutiny, and the community—quite understandably—had questions. Why wasn’t the venue secured earlier, when tickets went on sale the year before? Why did Eri cover for Red for weeks of back-and-forth emailing instead of freely informing the public what was at stake? Shouldn’t Eri step down as admin of the Castle forums and let someone else take the reins? The debate raged on, but still, there was a more pressing issue—the convention itself.
THE CONVENTION
Miraculously, the story has a better ending than such hobby drama stories generally do. Doubtless many started this story and formed an impression of a canceled con or a disaster, but—shockingly—neither happened.
The community rallied. The funds were acquired. Legal action was pursued in earnest against Red by both Eri and members of the community, and the convention, against all odds, went on. In October, in New York City, hundreds of Blythe fans gathered at the hotel and there were vendors, demonstrations, and—of course—lots and lots of dolly photos. Videos taken from the convention floor look cheery, post-Facebook chatter is pleasantly joyful, and all in all few seem to even remember that the con funds were absconded with by a respected member of the community.
THE FALLOUT
Despite the success of Blythecon 2013, the stain was there, and the final post on the 2013 convention’s Facebook page—on the heels of several happy discussions about vendor tables—is a detailed list of instructions for pursuing legal action against Red. The Castle forums never quite recovered from the shock of Red’s betrayal, and Eri, while maintaining her post as admin, never had quite the public trust that she had had before. The forums continued to be active, but the pall cast by the event lingered and probably—although this is speculation—helped contribute to their winding down. The community drifted to Facebook, torn asunder still more by the flagging of Flickr—hitherto a primary gathering place for fans—and to Instagram, and to this day remains fragmented. Blythe Castle still stands, but between the 2013 fallout and classic forums falling out of fashion, it is a very quiet—and often silent—place.
In a last little stab of drama, some of the buyers of Red’s emergency sale Blythes posted that they had never gotten their dolls. These public conversations peter out. The final post remaining on the original discussion post is an ominous reply to someone asking if restitution was ever made. Posted in December by one of Red’s buyers, two months after the convention, it reads in its entirety: “Nope.”
Blythecons in North America, however, continued. As far as I am aware, there has been a successful Blythecon every year until Blythecon Calgary 2020, when COVID-19 did what Red couldn’t and robbed Blythe fans of their annual place to hang out with their big-eyed plastic pals, bonding over their shared, somewhat eccentric hobby. It continued online, was apparently—for an online convention—pretty successful, and brought a spark of unity to an increasingly-fragmented community.
It’s unlikely that anything will ever replace the close-knit, unified North American Blythe community that existed before 2013. It’s equally unlikely that 2013 was entirely to blame for the fragmentation of the fanbase when so much of it can be chalked up to evolving technology and changing social media landscapes, as well as quality issues with Takara Blythes and the flood of cheap and divisive counterfeits (a subject for another post), but it did undoubtedly have some effect on the Blythe Castle part of it. But although the hobby has grown increasingly far-flung, it remains filled with passionate fans, and many of the names that turned up in discussions about Red’s betrayal, Eri’s cover-up, and last-minute hotel bookings back in 2013 still show up in conversations about Blythe today—and conventions, along with their funds, are handled with a lot more scrutiny.
*I love Blythe but the first time I bought one I turned her face to the wall while I slept. It takes some getting used to.

2020.09.28 10:39 rejamrejam [Blythe dolls] Betrayal and backlash in the big-eyed doll community when a convention organizer loses $23K

2020.09.28 02:40 angelofessence1 We’ve been talking for 3 months, me M25 UK her 25F Japan non stop everyday without fail, should I make the move?

Hello all! I would really appreciate some input here for my situation!
So I met this Japanese girl online through a video game (mental I know) and anyhow it’s really taken off. Started out as a few messages a day then gradually turned into talking all day before now turning into frequent video calls. We video call for nearly 4 hours sometimes and I always shift everything in my schedule to make time for her.
She even asked to video call again today and I was over the moon, just talk about life, ourselves, favourite hobbies, world issues etc everything and she’s always the one to message next day and say she’s liking talking to me all the time and really appreciates me video calling.
Anyway here come the signals. She started asking me about my family a lot then gradually moved on to me and my dating life before saying in one video call “I haven’t been this happy in a long time”. I really didn’t know how to take that and it’s still in my head now. I’m even sending her a birthday present to Japan and she’s even planning on coming to the UK because she says she wants to see me and do stuff together.
Here’s the predicament, I still (pathetic old me) haven’t officially asked her out yet or anything despite all the signals. We even spoke about relationships today and ffs I bottled it even when she said she would love to be in a relationship with a British guy obviously expressing her interest in me (ARRGGGH I beat myself up so much over this!!) I should have taken the chance then!!
So what do I do from here and how do I go about it guys? I don’t want to mess this up and I want to do this the best way possible, any advice would be greatly appreciated! Many thanks in advance!

2020.09.27 19:58 cloverkingdom Anime spoilers, unreleased raw discussions and general participation rule update

Hey fellow JJK fans ,
With official anime release being less than 1-week away, we are introducing new rules to prevent accidental spoiling of series to anime only crowd. Along with this rule, we are rehauling general participation rule of this sub including discussion of unreleased chapters and raws. Please familiarize yourself with it below.

Anime guidelines

There will be a common anime discussion thread so limit future spoiler discussion. Use the Reddit spoiler tag to discussion content which isn't there in latest released episode.
Moderators will pin a comment on episode discussion thread where fans can freely discuss future content and manga spoiler without using spoiler tags. This is similar to source material corner in anime discussion threads. Anime only crowd you have been warned.

All leaks go into megathread

Do not make separate thread for leaks and unreleased chapters. This includes theorycrafting, memes, manga panel sharing etc. Use the common pre-release hype megathread for discussions. Feel free to share raws and fan translations there. If you want to discuss leaks and speedscans real time, join our Discord.
The mod team of JujutsuKaisen won't be posting links to raws and translations of unreleased chapter on megathread. Fans are requested to search them on their own in comment section of the same thread. Reddit Legal Team[1] has removed hundreds of discussion threads in past containing links to scanlation sites on Viz' request. A legal team take down is pretty much precursor to harsher admin actions in future which can lead to shutting down of sub.

Links to aggregating sites[6] will be auto removed. If you want you can share them in DMs with the user.

5. Titling, content and low-effort submissions

Title guidelines-

Content-

Low-effort submissions

A submission is considered low effort if-
Rumours and news with no verified source- JujutsuKaisen isn't gossip page. Any source linking to websites with history of rumour mongering and no substance will be removed. This include "popular" anitwitter too.
Manga panel spams with equally low-effort karma reaction title.
Random polls- favourite character, most underrated character, favourite curse etc. They have been done to death and add nothing to discussion.
Image macros- it offers nothing to discussion and has no place in our sub.
Power scaling- "can X character from JJK beat Y character from BnHA?"- please don't bring that here. Your favourite character sucks and Yuji Itadori will beat his ass if he wants to!

Footnotes

  1. Reddit Legal - An extension of Reddit admins that handles legal complaints, DMCA takedowns etc. A Reddit Legal removal can easily get a user suspended or a subreddit shutdown depending on level of infractions
  2. 2.Shounen Jump - aka Weekly Shonen Jump or WSJ, is a weekly shonen manga anthology published in Japan by Shueisha under their Jump line of magazines. Jujutsu Kaisen was serialised in Issue #2449 No.14 March 19, 2018 issue (store date- March 05, 2018).
  3. Simulpub series - Back in Dec, 7, 2018, Shonen Jump with Viz announced that latest chapters from all their major Jump titles will be available for free in conjunction with Japanese release. While the simulpub part is a misnomer since they recently introduced 1-hr delay between Japanese and English release of WSJ titles, it is still simultaneous release in a sense.
  4. Viz- Viz Media LLC is a manga publisher, anime distributor and entertainment company headquartered in California. Their website viz.com hosts simul-release of Jump series in partnership with Shueisha's Mangaplus. First 3 and latest 3 chapters are free to read on their website. Rest of the catalog can be unlocked by paying a $1.99/month membership fee.
  5. Mangaplus - It is an online manga platform owned by Shueisha. They generally host only first three and latest three chapters of major series that are currently in-serialization, therefore acting as a preview site. Rest of the catalog can be unlocked on Viz via membership
  6. Aggregating sites- All those ad infested, malware ridden websites that illegally host thousands of manga series without license from publishing house.
  7. Leaks and speedscans - Raws i.e. pages from magazine in Japanese that gets leaked every Thursday with a slightly better page quality Korean and Chinese release on Fridays . Fans usually clean, translate and typeset aka speedscan them and make them available on discussion boards. These same speedscans are snagged by scummy aggregating sites and passed off as official release. Quality is very often shoddy since a lot of context is lost in JP-KOR-EN translations

General guidelines
  • Please tag spoilers appropriately. This goes for both Jujutsu Kaisen and any other series that you mentioning in comments.
  • If you are making submission from latest officially released chapter within first 12 hrs, mark it as spoiler. Reddit automatically tags a post as spoiler if you write "spoiler" in titles.
  • This rule extends to memes too. Any meme submission containing panel from latest chapter must be marked "spoiler".

How to tag spoilers

  • You can only spoiler codes on post body and comments and not the title
  • Spoiler code
    >!spoiler text!<
Note - Latest chapter means the chapter which is officially out on Viz and Mangaplus each weekend. Images from leaks and speedscans is strictly forbidden.

4. Do not link to aggregating sites

Jujutsu Kaisen is part of Shonen Jump's[2] simulpub series[3] and a new chapter is released every Sunday at 4 PM UTC on Viz[4] and MangaPlus[5] . Chapter release schedule can be found here (except for relevant Japanese national holidays).
Read official, support the manga.
Links to aggregating sites[6] will be auto removed. If you want you can share them in DMs with the user.

5. Titling, content and low-effort submissions

Title guidelines-

  • Title your post appropriately. No emoji spam or url in titles. It will be removed. Make some effort with your titles.
  • Do not spoil latest chapter content in titles. It will be removed.
  • No perverted roleplay or creepy dialogues in title.
  • OC artists are allowed to link their username of one of their social media in title. Example title- "I made a Nanami artwork (@user_name on TwitteInsta/Pixiv)". You can link rest of them in comments.

Content-

  • Submissions made by you must be relevant to Jujutsu Kaisen series.

Low-effort submissions

A submission is considered low effort if-
  • Rumours and news with no verified source- JujutsuKaisen isn't gossip page. Any source linking to websites with history of rumour mongering and no substance will be removed. This include "popular" anitwitteratis too.
  • Manga panel spams with equally low-effort karma reaction title.
  • Random polls- favourite character, most underrated character, favourite curse etc. They have been done to death and add nothing to discussion.
  • Image macros- it offers nothing to discussion and has no place in our sub.
  • Power scaling- "can X character from JJK beat Y character from BnHA?"- please don't bring that low-effort crap here. Your favourite character sucks and Yuji Itadori will beat his ass if he wants to!

6. Avoid drama

If you got any issue towards other users, use the report button or send us a modmail. No need to make a separate post to fuel the circlejerk.

7. Spams and self-promotions

  • Reddit is a community, not a classified section where you can randomly advertise your blog or youtube videos. Nobody likes spammers....especially those who have zero participation history in sub and just promote their content.
  • Follow Reddit's self promotion guideline. You must maintain a 10:1 participation ratio- there should be only one linking to your content for every 10 quality contributions made by you in /JujutsuKaisen.
  • Failure to follow this will lead to removal of the said submission. Repeated violation will result in 30-day ban.
  • OC Artwork, cosplayers, OC fan merchandise makers are allowed to self-promote.
    • While the concept of fan made merchandise still comes under gray area, make sure your merch is an original creation of yours and not stolen official media or from someone else's hard work.
  • This rule includes linking to offshoot subreddits and Discord too. /JujutsuKaisen and its affiliated Discord are the only communities we endorse.

8. Source all fan-art

  • If you are submitting artwork not made by you, then please link the source in comments along with the name of the artist.
  • The following websites are not valid sources: weheartit.com, pinterest.com, zerochan.net, dailyanimeart.com, alphacoders.com, any website with "wallpaper" in it, etc... these are aggregate sites which only have reposted artwork.
    • The original source is almost always on pixiv.net, deviantart.com, twitter, instagram, tumblr, or artstation.

9. Flairs

  • Please flair your post appropriately. It helps in sorting out submissions when searching category wise.
  • Current list of flairs-
    • News - Any news pertaining to Jujutsu Kaisen like volume release, anime airing date etc.
    • Manga - Volume covers, panels, pages go under this category
    • Anime - Anime clips, pv etc. hopefully we will see it in use soon
    • Memes - for memes
    • Fan Art - For artwork that isn't made by you.
    • Fan Art OC - For artworks that are made by you, the OP.
    • Cosplay - Any kind of cosplay featuring characters from Jujutsu Kaisen
    • Discussion - For any kinds of discussion pertaining to this series be it plot points, theories, critique etc.
    • MISC - Miscellanous. For topics which you feel don't fit any flair.
    • Manga Spoilers - For discussions which spoiler the series.
    • ColoRedraw - Manga panels that are colored and redrawn by fans.
    • Merch - Official and fan made merchandise goes here.

10. NSFW

  • All NSFW submission will be dealt on case-to-case basis and will be removed under moderators discretion.
  • NSFW submission should be marked as such. If the submission doesn't fit theme of Jujutsu Kaisen series, it will be removed. If the character in question looks minor, it will be removed and a separate report will be filed with admins!
  • For overly lewd posts, submit it if what they're wearing is what you would wear to the beach. If you think the submission crosses or comes under gray area, don't submit
  • Hentai submissions are strictly forbidden. Partial nudity is fine but no exposed genitalia or characters engaged in sexual activity. This isn't /rule34 for crying out loud!
  • Keep NSFW submissions under moderation- if a user is found to be spamming the sub with NSFW content, they will be warned.

Exception

Official NSFW art i.e. artwork made by Gege Akutami is allowed.

11. Repost

  • Reposts will be removed. Try to limit their submissions as much as you can.

12. Content removal requests

Are you an artist whose content was posted without permission to JujutsuKaisen? Request a removal from mods by clicking on this link. Please make sure to include the following details-
  • Link to the submission
  • Link to your art page where your illustration was originally uploaded (Pixiv, Deviantart, Twitter etc.)
  • Your Reddit ID linked in your art page bio as proof that it is you requesting the removal.
Requests from third parties will not be entertained.

Reminder

Report rule breaking content. Moderators won't be scanning the sub 24x7 and will heavily rely on user reports too. Alternately file a modmail if you think the report button is not enough.

DISCLAIMER

While we strive to keep the community as friendly as possible, mods reserve the right to remove content or restrict user's posting privileges as necessary if it is deemed detrimental to the subreddit or to the experience of others. The rules mentioned above are not exhaustive and a good chunk of submissions are dealt on case-by-case basis daily. If you have any queries or concerns or suggestions, send us a modmail.

Footnotes

  1. Reddit Legal - An extension of Reddit admins that handles legal complaints, DMCA takedowns etc. A Reddit Legal removal can easily get a user suspended or a subreddit shutdown depending on level of infractions.
  2. Shounen Jump - aka Weekly Shonen Jump or WSJ, is a weekly shonen manga anthology published in Japan by Shueisha under their Jump line of magazines.
Quality is very often shoddy since a lot of context is lost in JP-KOR-EN translations.

2020.09.27 12:55 lenalikesboots A few POTO wants

Hi guys!!!
I'm close to completing my POTO video collection! However, for that to happen, I still need a few videos. Hit me up if you have any of these videos:
Phantom Follies Rob Guest, Marina Prior, Dale Burridge, Maree Johnson, Caroline Ferrie 1992; Australia "Australian cast puts on skits and spoofs for charity, runs for over two hours. Some of the skits/parodies: 'Beauty School Dropout,' 'The Three Raoul Amigos,' 'A Charade,' 'I'm Too Sexy,' a rock version of 'Il Muto,' and a rap/dance version of 'Think of Me'."
Brad Little, Elizabeth Southard, Tim Martin Gleason January 11, 2004; Orlando Matinee performance. Three DAT files. Small picture with a lot of washout and fuzziness. Looks like it was filmed by the same person who did the evening performance on the same date. Brad Little's last matinee performance in the national tour
Damian Aleksander, Paulina Janczak/Edyta Krzemien, Marcin Mrozinski/Piotr Domalewski 2008 (?); Warsaw, Poland Various clips, highlights, and trailers from the Polish production, mostly ripped off YouTube. Combination of MP4 and FLV file
Brad Little, Claire Lyon, Anthony Downing Late 2014/Early 2015; Hong Kong, China Poorly shot, very far away video. MP4 files. Lots of blackouts, often not focused on the stage in Act 1, but improves slightly in Act 2.
Dmitry Ermak, Tamara Kotova, Eugeny Zaycev 2015; Moscow, Russia MP4 files, highlights of Act 1 only: Hannibal, 'Think of Me', 'The Mirror', and the title song
Brad Little, Emilie Lynn/Kristi Holden, Anthony Downing 2015; World Tour A bunch of Instagram clips of various scenes and actors from the World Tour. To be gifted.
Hugh Panaro, Sandra Joseph, John Cudia, Jeff Keller, George Lee Andrews, Patricia Phillips, Marilyn Caskey, Larry Wayne Morbitt, Joelle Gates* August 9, 2003; Broadway Rather massive head blocks most of the bottom, but filmer does their best to shoot around it.
Howard McGillin, Rebecca Pitcher, Michael Shawn Lewis, Julie Schmidt (u/s), David Cryer, George Lee Andrews, Marilyn Caskey, Roland Rusinek, Heather McFadden* August 18, 2006; Broadway Terrific quality video, very sharp colors and details. Audio is out of sync starting at 'Angel of Music' but is fixed by the title song.
Absolutely Phantomless April 13, 1995; Australia "The Australian cast of Phantom of the Opera in their annual Easter Charity Concert. Each of Cameron Mackintosh’s Australian shows participates at midnight after their regular performances. These shows feature the cast members parodying songs and other shows, with a slight tilt towards their own productions. Pro-shot for video, these tapes were made for cast and crew only."
Chopper Opera Rob Guest, Danielle Everett, John Bowles April 4, 1996; Sydney, Australia "The Sydney casts of Phantom of the Opera and Miss Saigon feature in this Easter Charity concert. Features "adapted" music from both shows in addition to pop music and songs from other shows. Pro-shot for video but generation loss."
Tomasz Steciuk, Edyta Krzemien, Marcin Mrozinski, Anna Gigiel, Jan Bzdawka, Jakub Szydłowski, Wojciech Socha July 8, 2011; Wieliczka, Poland 5 MP4 files of a concert version of the Polish production. Includes most of the big numbers and limited sets and costumes.
Hugh Panaro, Mary Michael Patterson, Jeremy Hays December 10, 2013; Broadway Highlights, turnofthescorpion's master.
Hugh Panaro, Mary Michael Patterson, Jeremy Hays January 18, 2014; Broadway
Marcus Lovett, Sofia Escobar, Simon Thomas, Lara Martins, Duncan Smith (u/s), Gareth Snook, Cheryl McAvoy, Jeremy Secomb, Layla Harrison (u/s) March 6, 2013; London 6 minute WMV video, containing parts of 'Think of Me', 'Angel of Music', 'The Mirror', title song, 'Music of the Night', 'Stranger Than You Dreamt It', and 'All I Ask of You'. Blurry shot most of the time, but sometimes clears up, though is not zoomed in. Still, great to see video of Sofia Escobar.
Marcus Lovett, Anna O'Byrne, Simon Thomas April 22, 2013; London Two VOB clips only, 'Music of the Night' and 'All I Ask of You Reprise'. (Note: Image is cropped; it's much taller than it looks here.)
Hugh Panaro, Mary Michael Patterson, Jeremy Hays October 4, 2013; Broadway Turnofthescorpion's master. Starts from 'Wandering Child', mostly blindshot. MT2 file.
James Barbour, Ali Ewoldt, Jordan Donica July 15, 2016; Broadway Act 1 only, MP4 file, mostly blindshot.
Phantom Compilation 1 Original review: "San Francisco local news behind-the-scenes segment with Franc D'Ambrosio and Lisa Vroman; Mid-August 1999, All I Ask of You and Music of the Night on Today Show with Ted Keegan, Sarah Pfisterer, and Gary Mauer; 1993, Today Show Broadway 5th anniversary segment with Mark Jacoby, Karen Culliver, etc.; 1993, Michael Crawford interviewed and performing "Since You Stayed Here" on Regis & Kathie Lee and Good Morning America; E! Entertainment behind-the-scenes special of LA production hosted by Davis Gaines, with Dale Kristien, Michael Piontek, and Calvin Remsberg; 1989, CBC Behind the Mask behind-the-scenes documentary on Toronto production with Colm Wilkinson, Rebecca Caine, Byron Nease, Hal Prince, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Cameron Mackintosh, etc."
Phantom Compilation 2 Behind-the-scenes special on the national tour in Buffalo with Ted Keegan and Rebecca Pitcher, mainly in black-and-white, as well as similar behind-the-scenes special in Seattle with similar content (in color) and interviews.
Rob Guest, Maree Johnson, Peter Cousens 1994; Sydney, Australia Midday Special that aired on TV; includes interviews and four proshot songs: 'Music of the Night', 'Prima Donna', 'All I Ask of You', and 'Masquerade'.
Laird Mackintosh (u/s), Mary Michael Patterson, Jeremy Hays January 22, 2014; Broadway Laird Mackintosh's second time as the Phantom on Broadway; includes 'All I Ask of You Reprise', 'Point of No Return', and 'Final Lair'. M2T file.
James Barbour, Kaley Ann Voorhees, Jeremy Hays March 2, 2015; Broadway A bunch of MP4 videos consisting of scattered, generally Christine-oriented highlights. This was uploaded to Instagram live at the performance, so all parts are 15 seconds long. Consists of parts of 'Think of Me', 'The Mirror', title song, 'Music of the Night', rooftop, 'Wishing', 'Point of No Return', and 'Final Lair'. Parts are well-shot (sometimes it looks like the person is right under the cast member!).
Various Phantom of the Opera-Related Clips Clips all copied off of TV: Steve Barton & Sarah Brightman singing AIAOY live, Sarah Brightman and Steve Harley's concept POTO video, interviews with Michael Crawford during his Phantom run, 1988 Tony Award Presentation to Michael Crawford, Michael Crawford and Dale Kristien performing POTO, Michael Crawford AIAOY duet with Dale Kristien, Michael Crawford in concert performing MOTN, Davis Gaines and Tracy Shayne performing MOTN, German version of MOTN sang on a TV set, German version of POTO Video, PONR with Sarah Brightman and Michael Crawford, Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman performance at the Tony Awards, Michael Crawford and Dale Kristien – Music of the Night, Sarah Brightman singing MOTN,footage of the OBC at the Majestic Theatre, Robert Guillaume and Dale Kristien – MOTN, Colm Wilkinson singing MOTN, Unidentified Raoul and Christine performing AIAOY, Michael Crawford video of MOTN, interview footage with Steve Barton.
Tim Martin Gleason, Trista Moldovan, Sean MacLaughlin* 2010; Cleveland Not my review: "This documentary aired on August 9, 2010. It includes interviews with the Advance Stage Manager, the Conductor, a Playhouse Square VP, Trista Moldovan and Tim Martin Gleason, and the Wardrobe Supervisor. Also includes footage clips from the current 2010 Phantom cast, filmed here in Cleveland."
Peter Karrie, Teresa DeZarn, Kip Wilbourne 1997; Vancouver, Canada Half hour segment from The Slate on BBC Wales about Peter Karrie's time in the Phantom Canadian production. Includes interviews and proshot clips with the cast at the time, but has some pretty heavy distortion and color bleeding.
Ian Jon Bourg, Alison Kelly, Janine Kitzen, Maike Switzer, Beatrix Reiterer 2000 and onwards; Hamburg, Stuttgart, and Essen, Germany Proshot videos of Ian Jon Bourg performing in-concert with various Christines. About 30 minutes long.
Ian Jon Bourg, Lori Zeglarski (?), Kyle Gonyea 2000 (?); Hamburg, Germany Act 2 only, includes part of the March 31, 1999 video with Jerzy Jeszke, Carla Nicholson, and Bjorn Olsson. Christine was labeled as Colby Thomas, but it looks like Lori Zeglarski. Date is also a guess.
Ian Jon Bourg, Janine Kitzen, Michael Shawn Lewis November 16, 2002; Stuttgart, Germany Monitor video of one of the first shows in Stuttgart, with audio fed in from the soundboard. Decent color and exposure; better than the other two monitor videos that came out of Stuttgart. Filming continues through intermission, so video features 30 minutes of curtains. LIMITED TRADE.
Ian Jon Bourg, Sandra Danyella September 4, 2005; Essen, Germany Promotional outdoor concert for the Essen production, includes 'Wishing', title song, and 'Music of the Night'.
Andrew Lloyd Webber, Cameron Mackintosh, Charles Hart, Gillian Lynne, Richard Stilgoe, Michael Crawford, Sarah Brightman, etc. December 26, 2006; Various Locations Not exactly an online video of the show, but the 'Behind the Mask' special documentary, taken directly off the BBC 2 channel.
Some other POTO videos:
- Video: Steve Lucas, Kristin Holck, Carsten Lepper; March 2004; Stuttgart, Germany; monitor video - Video: Hugh Panaro, Susan Owen, Tim Martin Gleason; October 1, 2005; Broadway; Panaro's last matinee of his 2005 run - Video: Christian A. 2020.09.26 17:17 Bozrah Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds - First Gameplay Revealed

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GGE-m8D00Kc

Edit: Added the Teaser Tour below for those of you interested.
https://youtu.be/UK1hHnbF-VY
At a special online presentation during Tokyo Game Show 2020 today, publisher Level-5 and developer Netmarble showed a few minutes of gameplay of their upcoming mobile RPG Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds. The entire presentation was later uploaded to YouTube with English subtitles ("for a limited time" according to the official Twitter account).
Cross Worlds is a departure from the previous Ni no Kuni games, which used a traditional fantasy setting. Instead, Cross Worlds has a science-fiction twist: the player is a regular person in the "real" world of Ichi no Kuni (literally "one country") who is beta-testing a new virtual reality game called Soul Diver, which takes them into the world of Ni no Kuni.
Five player classes have been revealed for Ni no Kuni Cross Worlds: Swordsman, Witch, Rogue, Destroyer and Engineer. In today's online presentation, popular Japanese YouTuber Masuo was able to begin a game as the Swordsman, although his in-game character looked different than the default version, suggesting there will be character customization options (but none were shown). In the game inside the game, his character was greeted by an AI character called Rania. A sudden glitch in the system replaces Rania with a "real" version of the same woman, but before they can explain the situation everything goes dark.

The Swordsman awakes in a burning city greeted by a small imp-like creature called Cluu, but the action starts immediately as the player must swipe the screen to avoid a falling tower. After a brief encounter with a dragon wearing a giant amulet, Cluu directs the player to head towards the castle to aid the Queen. This gives us a glimpse at the control interface for Cross Worlds: A virtual slide pad on the left of the screen moves the player, while the camera can be adjusted by swiping the screen.
The Swordsman enters combat, which is controlled with a circle of buttons on the right side of the screen; a big "attack" button is in the center, and Masuo was hammering it to slash the monsters. Smaller buttons around the attack button were not explained but appear to be special abilities which have a cooldown timer before becoming active again. Debris blocks the way to the Queen and the only way through is to pick up a bomb and throw it through contextual button presses and swipes.
Once he reaches the Queen and interrupts her death at the hands of a towering villain, the player discovers she is the woman he met when he first entered Ni no Kuni. At this point the demo cut off, but other trailers have shown the player traveling to Evermore on a quest to save the kingdom.
It should be said that unlike previous Ni no Kuni mobile titles, Cross Worlds looks on par with the console releases of the past: Despite being entirely 3D creations, the characters resemble 2D drawings from famed Japanese animation company Studio Ghibli, which was a collaborator on the first Ni no Kuni; indeed, during the presentation, Netmarble Japan CEO Yuji Endo said that the new game recreates Ghibli's world from the original. In footage during today's presentation, a variety of lush environments were shown, from forests to deserts and fields to cities.

Two other gameplay modes were featured in today's presentation, Kingdom and Team Arena. Kingdom Mode is a cooperative multiplayer mode where players can explore the city and countryside together. Players also have a familiar who trails behind them and can "help them on their journey" though no skills were shown; one touch of a button beneath them can swap the familiar for another. During today's video, the on-air hosts were shown chasing wild animals and capturing them, though earlier footage showed competitive games like soccer or dice.
In Team Arena, six players were able to compete in a 3-on-3 combat mini-game. Rather than a test of strength, the actual goal is to collect creatures called "higgledies" inside the arena. Players can attack each other and throw items to make their opponents lose their higgledies, but even if they are knocked out they will come back in a few seconds. The only way to win is to collect the most higgledies and evade the other players for 10 seconds.
Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds has no formal release date, but previous announcements suggest it will be out in Japan before the year ends. No foreign releases or localization have yet been confirmed either, but the presence of fully subtitled English and Chinese videos on the official Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds channel suggests international versions may be released later.

2020.09.26 05:08 Rocknboogie [Scawaii magazine] A commemorative Japanese debut interview with the hot new K-pop group ONEUS (190902)

Scawaii: A commemorative Japanese debut interview with the hot new K-pop group ONEUS
2019.09.02.

We are so intrigued by ONEUS!
The flawless Korean boy group ONEUS is becoming a hot topic around the world due to their highly skilled performances and beautiful visuals! Since their Japanese debut has been set and we are likely to get more chances to meet them, we tried to ask them about their personal lives and the passion they feel towards their activities.
This hot K-pop group is finally debuting in Japan!
(From the right)
Leedo
Date of birth: 1997.07.26. Rap, vocals. Charm: low voice. He likes to joke around and isn’t concerned about details, which is different from his cool image.
Xion
Date of birth: 2000.01.10. Vocals. The youngest in the group, he, alongside Keonhee, is in charge of housework at the dorms. Good at hair and makeup.
Hwanwoong
Date of birth: 1998.08.26. Main dancer. Good at sloth impersonations. Has a sincere, passionate character and likes when the rules are followed.
Seoho
Date of birth: 1996.06.07. Main vocals. Is muscular despite his cute face. Has a lot of somewhat strange thoughts and expressions.
Keonhee
Date of birth: 1998.06.27. Main vocals. He’s a good talker, and can cheer the group up. Can eat a lot and not gain weight.
Team Profile
Debuted in South Korea in January 2019. A skilled boy group that consists of former RBW trainees, which is the same company that manages Mamamoo. Many of the members have appeared on popular audition reality shows such as Produce 101 Season 2, and have been popular ever since the shows aired. Their skills and promotional qualities are praised highly among fans.

ONEUS Q&A
My elder teammates take care of me, and I take care of them in the dorms [Xion]
Q. Do you ever fight with the members?
A. The other day my ice cream disappeared from the freezer, so we did have a small argument. By the way, the criminal is definitely Seoho. Though he says, ‘Oh I wouldn’t do that’ (laughs).
Q. How would you describe your fans in one word?
A. Best friends. I think of us as friends who support each other in difficult, fun or happy circumstances. I hope our fans want to have a relationship like that too.
Q. If you are to compare yourself to an animal?
A. A puppy. I like to tease my older members, and I sometimes bite them like a puppy. Leedo is the number one victim of my biting (laughs).
Q. What do you have to do before a concert?
A. We run through everyone’s expressions. Since facial expressions differ from stage to stage, we try to go on stage after we understand what kind of feelings we need to express.

I want to show the meaning behind the name ONEUS [Hwanwoong]
Q. Tell us about a member’s true nature!
A. Leedo has a very cool image with his low voice but in reality he has a lot of cute sides. Recently he was very afraid of getting a [vaccine] shot. (laughs)
Q. What was a good thing about living with the members?
A. Hmm, nothing (laughs). We are in a certain sense business partners but we also feel like brothers and family to each other, but I think our relationship is more special.
Q. If you are to compare yourself to an animal?
A. A sloth. I’ve always been lazy and had a slow reaction (laughs). I eat slowly so the members usually help me eat my food (laughs).
Q. Who is the most handsome among the members?
A. Me (laughs). I think it’s important to love yourself, and if you do so, you can become even cooler! That’s why I say ‘myself’ so surely!

I’ll be happy if we can do our activities and eat delicious Japanese food [Keonhee]
Q. Tell us about a member’s true nature!
A. Hwanwoong went on a diet before coming to Japan this time. But since we arrived in Japan, maybe because he was reassured that he had lost some weight, he has been eating a lot, and I think he gained it back (laughs).
Q. How would you describe your fans in one word?
A. Moons. Our fanclub’s name is ‘TOMOON’, so I feel like I get strength when I see the Moon on my way back home, and it’s so beautiful in the night sky. That’s exactly what our fans are.
Q. If you compare the members to family, who has the role of the “Mother”?
A. Xion. Unlike his image of the youngest member, he cleans up around the dorms, and gets into the other members’ business. If you’re messy he says, ‘Why won’t you clean that up?’ (laughs)
Q. What is your favorite food in Japan?
A. Okonomiyaki! Some time ago Hwanwoong and I went to eat at this place that we had to line up for 2 hours to get in. It was so delicious that after we were done eating, we lined up for 2 more hours again (laughs).

I like to feel the pain of building muscles (laughs). [Leedo]
Q. Tell us about a member’s true nature!
A. Our youngest member Xion teases other members but he is adorable and I like when he sticks by me. He also seems to like helping the older members to clean around the dorms.
Q. Do you hang out with the members outside of work?
A. Seoho and I play games in Internet cafes a lot. I believe the younger guys go to movies and go shopping. We go out to eat delicious food together.
Q. What are your 3 favorite dishes?
A. Beef, pork, chicken. Anyway, I love meat. I don’t like vegetables so I don’t really eat them. As for Japanese dishes, I like chashu ramen. I want to try a lot of different ramen noodles!
Q. What kind of fashion style do you usually wear?
A. I like to look polished. I like clothes that show off your physique, like shirts or coats. I don’t like going shopping so I usually shop online.

If I am to compare myself to an animal, I am a ‘squirrel’ with genius moves [Seoho]
Q. Who is the most handsome and the cutest among the members?
A. Hmmm. If you don’t just go by looks, then me. Because I have the best heart (laughs). I’m also the cute one. I am in charge of being cute in the group but more than that, you could say that I am the embodiment of cuteness.
Q. If you are to compare the other members to animals?
A. Leedo is a chick. His mouth is small and his eyes look like those of a chick. Keonhee is a frog. His arms and legs are long. Hwanwoong is a sloth. He’s slow at everything (laughs). Xion is an alpaca because his eyelashes are long.
Q. What was the most recent Japanese word you learned?
A. ‘Peko-peko’. I was wondering what you would say when you’re hungry so I was taught this word. I think it’s very cute.
Q. Where do you usually go shopping?
A. Hongdae. There are a lot of clothing shops there, so I visit different shops and get the clothes I like. I like oversized hip-hop style clothing.

Talking about ONEUS with all 5!
Q. What has changed since your debut in January?
Xion: We are able to meet our fans often. I think it’s great that we can meet and share anything, whether it’s good or bad.
Seoho: The fact that our fanclub was named ‘TOMOON’ is a big change from the pre-debut.
All: That’s right!
Q. How did you feel when you learned that you’re going to debut?
Seoho: It didn’t feel real. There was a lot of pressure over the course of time, but our fans supported us and helped us a lot.
Leedo: We are very excited about the Japanese debut since it’s in a new place. It’s a new start.
Q. What are your favorite ONEUS songs personally?
Seoho: Red Thread. I like ballads, and I like the name of the song because of its meaning, that ‘We and the fans are connected’.
Hwanwoong: Eye Contact. This song is different from our debut song, Valkyrie, and shows our brighter side. We also decided on the MV ourselves, so it’s a very meaningful song, in my mind.
Q. What is your dream that you want to achieve as ONEUS?
Keonhee: In Korea we said that we wanted to stay healthy during our promotions, but since we got to go to Japan now, we saw how cool the groups who debuted in Japan before us are, holding a dome tour. We thought that we wanted to meet our Japanese fans on a Japanese dome tour. We’ll do our best!
Q. Please say a message to your fans who are eagerly awaiting your activities in Japan!
Leedo: To those who have waited for us, we will do our best to show you our cooler side and a great performance.
Xion: Since we are receiving a lot of love from afar, we want to create good memories and show a bigger love.
Hwanwoong: We are so grateful to receive love that breaks the language barrier, the country barrier. We will bring a great performance and music that will rise above language and culture.
Keonhee: We are happy to keep the promise we made to our Japanese fans who come to Korea to support us, that we will come see them next. Please support us from now on!
Seoho: We will do our best to meet your expectations, and show you a more perfect performance!

Original source Translation - yours truly.

Hardcore Mode We are nearing the end of the September and that means Hardcore mode has finally arrived! If you’ve ever wanted to play a more precise and lethal version of COD: Mobile then Hardcore mode is just for you. If you aren’t familiar with the mode from other Call of Duty titles, Hardcore is really just all about making gunplay a little bit more realistic. All of the main changes are listed below:
https://preview.redd.it/x1v33gey4dp51.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=53f1b1d0069409d277cb8e76ec3ee81138fcbcd5
If you haven’t tried this mode before it is worth checking out just to see if you like the cleaner HUD, the quicker gunfights, and just how much it rewards for quick reactions with precise firing. Just you know, don’t shoot your teammates 😉. Check that mode out in-game now and let us know what you think.

Seasonal Challenges As of today we have seven seasonal challenges available for you to tackle through the events portion of the game! Through these you can acquire Battle Pass XP, weapon XP card, various cosmetic camos, weapon blueprints, new perks, characters, and more.
We are still firm believers that these challenges are a great way to provide a wealth of items and rewards to players with a variety of difficulties associated with the challenges. Today, we have the last two seasonal challenges releasing for S10, Vagabond and Bonded By Combat.
Vagabond This seven-part seasonal challenge is all about Battle Royale and completing a variety of different tasks, like using the Trickster or Trap Master classes (available in the Credit Store), getting kills with the Tank vehicle, using class skills in general, and a few other specific tasks. There are quite a few rewards to grab from that one, including a hefty amount of Battle Pass XP, but here are some of the main ones:
  • (Uncommon) Defender – Pelt
  • (Uncommon) Mechanic – Forest Felt
  • (Rare) Helicopter – Iridescent
  • (Rare) Antelope A20 – Freight Train
  • (Rare) AK-47 – Freight Train

Bonded By Combat This four-part seasonal challenge is the opposite of Vagabond; it is only for Multiplayer and it has four straight forward tasks all about tackling ranked mode. Grab some friends, win some matches, and earn these new rewards:
  • (Uncommon) Knife – Forest Felt
  • (Uncommon) PDW-57 – Forest Felt
  • (Rare) M4LMG – Iridescent
Credit Store Update We generally have two credit store updates a month, every other week, and with the first one for Season 10 we released an arsenal of weapons to help up your game. This time around, we have a mixture of items, like a character, the Cryo Bomb, an animated calling card, and more. Take a glance at those items below in this fancy gif and grab them in-game now in the Credit Store.
https://reddit.com/link/izvcpc/video/mr4n94cd5dp51/player
Character Highlight Videos Every month we do a number of creative videos around showcasing various characters from the Battle Pass, lucky draws, or crates, and with the intent to spread awareness of some great variants or brand-new characters. We usually don’t share those here in these community updates unless there is something going on that is relevant to them, but this week we had to share this brand-new video highlighting Grinch – Nightfang (a Ghillie suit character) and exactly how we imagine most players will utilize that character in matches. Check it out.

Feedback

Normally we aim for a few topics to go over each week in feedback, but this week there is one in particular that we need to discuss and in length. Let’s head to it.
Bundles, Crates, and The Store Over the last week or two we’ve been seeing many conversations and discussions about bundles, crates, and our overall store. While there are many changes and improvements we plan to make, and improvements we've already made (like duplicate protection on crates), the overall discussion is reminiscent of the same discussion we all had back in April. Back then, we ran a bundles vs crates/lucky draws test and with a huge portion of our player base.
Like many people here have noted, while the online CODM communities are widespread and varied, a significant amount of our player base may not be involved in those spaces. Between Reddit, Discord, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube we are thrilled to be able to interact with millions of players, but there are still so many more outside of those platforms who may just play the game and don’t get involved in discussions in those communities. We ran that test back in April with the entire player base in mind, not just the active online community.
Based on community feedback and player behavior we arrived at an approach that offered maximum choice to users. We did this even though the bundles group just wasn’t as popular as the non-bundle group. We like more choice. That’s why nowadays bundles, crates, draws, robust credit store, they’re all there.
We'll keep reading, keep taking in feedback, and keep discussing new ways to add systems or improvements that help improve your experience with our store. Thank you all for the many discussions about this and for the passion driving the communities behind it.
Bug Reports Since last week we’ve been going through a large number of reports about various bugs and trying to figure out what caused this to occur in the first place, since Season 10 wasn’t tied to a major in-game update like Season 9 was, and how best to fix them in a timely manner. We’ve already fixed a few smaller bugs through hotfixes and have many others still in progress.
Normally, we do not share out a list of what we are currently investigating, but we saw a lot of players concerned last week that we were not investigating bugs seriously and to give credit to our many teams work on that here is a general list of what we are looking into right now:
  • Characters stuck in poses in pre-game lobbies or menus
  • Weapon textures not loading in certain conditions
  • The Axe having a permanent notification icon for camos (which cannot be checked off)
  • Essentials Only Backpack Not Equip able by Outrider – Amazonas
  • Gold camo in Gunsmith not covering the whole of certain weapons
  • The Type 25 - Demise and AK47 - Trial and Error do not have iron sights when no optic is equipped
  • M16 - Fubar blueprint camo is not displaying correctly when attaching a different barrel
  • ICR 1 - Retro Nuclear blueprint camo is not displaying correctly when attaching a different barrel
  • Several issues related to ADS (aim down sights) on controllers
  • Two issues with the XPR-50 – Arachnophobia related to the kill effect and attachment names
  • Exploitable map glitches on Shipment 1944
  • An issue with scorestreaks and scorestreak progression not persisting after the round ends on Search & Destroy mode
  • Audio issues occurring only on lower end devices
  • Several text/copy related issues
  • In Battle Royale the camera may suddenly move after getting a kill while using ADS
  • In Battle Royale the player may experience a falling/flying animation after leaving a vehicle
  • In Battle Royale the ADS setting is not applying correctly to LMGs
  • In Battle Royale a chopper crosshair main remain visible while using ADS
  • ADS and rewards were not working (now fixed)
  • Players were missing Survival Skills and 10 Men Regiment rewards (now fixed)
These are all issues that our teams reported up over the past week and are either being investigated by our player supports team or have already moved on to being looked into by our devs. Please keep sending in reports and through whatever channel below is the easiest for you to use.
Support Options If you are looking to report a bug or need any assistance, please reach out through the following channels to make sure it is being reported into our support system. We do see issues in the community and report those often, but these channels below are preferable:

Another week, another community update, and another player to highlight for creating some interesting versions of Call of Duty: Mobile weapons! Reddit user Travisbork has been creating weapon variations and designs for a little over a month now, and with many unique designs.
The first one that caught our eye was this fantastic, sleek, and mechanical looking variant of the HG 40, which they are calling the HG 40 – Cardinal.
HG 40 – Cardinal by Travisbork
One other design that we found to be particularly unique and intriguing, was the HVK-30 – Heavy Duty. This isn’t a weapon that gets brought up a lot in relation to fan art or community designs, so it was great to see them take a stab it and in a way that is unique from any other designs we’ve seen with this construction style yellow mixed with machine parts.
HVK-30 - Heavy Duty by Travisbork
While they don’t have any of their designs posted elsewhere, so we can’t ask you to like and subscribe their YouTube channel 😉, they do have plenty of other designs posted through various Reddit threads. Check them out under their profile here: https://www.reddit.com/usetravisbork
One week from now is October 1st (UTC), which is technically our anniversary! We are excited to share a bit with you all then that will help celebrate 1 year of Call of Duty: Mobile existing in the world and also lead the way into our Season 11 release in mid-October. Tune in then and take care!

2020.09.26 00:14 amievenreal99 27 [F4M], SW Germany, from anywhere: Be my player 2, my co-nerd, my tank, my party member.

Seeking my mature, reliable, family-oriented, dependable, non-casual, caring, protective, committed, clingy player 2 who doesn't need to sow his wild oats to out-nerd me (https://imgur.com/a/vaw5soA; politically liberal/left-wing, but my relationship values are old-fashioned).
Where are my real nerds? The ones that were called freaks 15 years ago, the ones I can be shut-ins with together – apart from the occasional restaurant visit, the ones I can game with all day, the ones with 'geeky' interests to swipe me off my feet and fascinate me by telling me about topics they are knowledgeable about and the ones looking for a serious connection, whose interests in people do not lie in casually hanging out at parties, whom I can have hour-long TTRPG-sessions and be hopeless romantics with?
You are welcomed by the inn's maid, as she shows you the way into the tavern. You recall having gone to bed as usual last night. You don't know how, but somehow you woke up in a strange environment, a medival-style town, merchants yelling and praising their fruits across the street, people dressed in hoods. In search for answers, you entered a place with a sign on it which you could not decipher at first. As your glance sweeps over it, the maid tells you it's the adventurer's hall and asks you if you're even armed yet. Armed? You don't understand – but what you do understand is that this is probably the best place to search for answers.
You notice that the place is very crowded. People drinking, chatting, some are even singing and dancing. The atmosphere is rather... boisterous. Not so for a figure you notice at the end of the room. A woman in long, dark robes leaning over a book, reading. Her long, dark hair covering the rest of the table. Moving closer, you see her features: slightly tanned skin, average figure. Probably about 165 cm large, 70 kg.
**Personality:**
Metalhead by heart. And the very first thing people notice about me are the dresses I'm still wearing from back when I was actively goth. After years of backlash for my choice of fashion - and due to the fact that I really love my wardrobe - it has become a sort of statement and expression of my personality.
Apart from work (software development), I don't spend much time outside (though I do enjoy visiting restaurants, because who wouldn't love food and taking a nice walk). I avoid crowds though. I am into wholesome, down to earth people who are reliable, caring, genuine and know what they want. I also do my best to give back exactly the same. I have a strong dislike towards huge crowds, as well as loud noise. Hence, I am in favour of calm people with the same preference, despite tending to get nervous and anxious easily.
I have been wanting to go back to being vegetarian/vegan. This is not something I would expect from someone else - I don't really care about what you eat, really.
Also, I'm a hopeless romantic. I am heavily invested in the things I do - be it playing games I play competitively/hardcore, putting effort into my work or taking my relationship very seriously to the core. I would expect the same.
I like people who are high effort, hardworking, reliable adults, taking things and things they do seriously and value their dignity and self respect. In fact, I consider those the most desirable attributes in a person.
I have my flaws. In fact, I have many, some of which you will notice, others I will share. Neither do I expect you to be perfect, nor should you expect the same from me. I believe that a relationship between two people provides a fundament for both to learn from each other, help and support each other, share things about themselves and their emotions. Because we all are human, not machines, and we need each other. If you don't appreciate flaws in people and are too inspired by social media in that regard, I do not think we would get along. In fact, I wish people embraced their humanity more and dared more to be human.
**What people notice about me first:**
\- I laugh a lot
\- generally a very cheerful person
\- dressed in black
\- mostly sitting aside from the rest
\- sensitive to loud noise
**Hobbies:**
Apart from gaming, I also enjoy intellectual/philosophical conversations a lot, as well as watching good anime (we can exchange MALs if you want).
I mostly watch Psychological, Thriller and sometimes Comedies. But above all, I truly - and I mean, TRULY - appreciate Ghibli. I would love someone to share this love with. I also love Joe Hisaishi and going to a concert would be one of my absolute dreams.
I used to play a lot of LoL and climbed hard until a month or so ago, but quit due to the community being very unenjoyable, yet a major factor of the game. Not only that, but I really don't want to support Riot Games.
I used to hardcore raid in several MMOs before (truly, I miss progressing through the puzzle-like savage and ultimate raids in FF14) and, since I love the challenge, I love my games in the highest difficulty. Let's play Nightmore/Iron Man/Extreme mode together.
Nowadays, I mostly watch anime, replay some Pokemon roms (like some Kaizo Nuzlockes) and dabble in Unity. I'd also love playing a TCG, preferably Legends, with you. Do you have any game in mind we could play together? An RPG, a survival, something we can roleplay?
(No seriously, please suggest something, I don't have any games currently)
**Other than that:**
I mainly play isometric RPG (Divinity OS2, Pillars of Eternity, Tyranny, Baldur's Gate, etc), action RPG (mainly Souls series and I'm very hyped for Elden Ring!), raid in MMORPG (WoW classic, FF11 and FF14, where I have been raiding competitively and did world prog (but then my static disbanded and I left, because can't be bothered with PF), looking forward to Pantheon and Ashes of Creation), strategy games (EU4, AoE, etc.), love CCG a lot (MtG and TESL) and, of course, tabletops and boardgames. I enjoy chess a lot, too.If you're interested, feel free to slide into my DMs :)
Since I'm mostly playing TESL and waiting for Baldurs Gate, New World, Ashes of Creation, Pantheon, Elden Ring, Mortal Shell these days, I would be very happy to be recommended a game we can play together.
Currently I'm not really doing much, besides watching videos on YT, waiting for the never-coming Made in Abyss S2 and dipping into Path of Exile at times, despite not being all that much into Hack n Slays. If you have a game recommendation, throw it at me.
Let's play something together.
**Goals, aspirations:**
I'm not a careerist person. What I truly aspire one day is living in a very rural place - or in the wilderness - and having a small, but cosy hut. The basement is a gaming area with nice RGB and has a long table with 2 PCs and chairs where we can game together. I am not on social media (except reddit and whatsapp) and would like to flee somewhere far away from all that.
I believe that most seek for their purpose. I have chosen mine to play vidya, code and have someone I can call my home.
Someone to make me smile in the morning after reading his message, knowing the day cannot go wrong.
Someone to game with, talk about whatever or just enjoy their presence, without anything else needed.
Someone to take a walk in the summer rain with.
Someone to go to the beach with.
Someone to discover restaurants and cafés with, as food is the only thing I would love to go outside for.Someone I know will be there when my day was bad and nothing else will matter.
Someone caring who stays in difficult times, too. It does sound selfish on a second thought, forgive me.
Someone to maybe visit Japan with again, where I used to live for 1.5 years before.
Also, I've been gaming basically all my life. My first MMO was, as stated, Ultima Online, and I've always played competitively - mostly so in FF11, FF14 and WoW. I always dreamed about having someone to share this with and to do it with. Imagine you're in esports and so is your partner, wouldn't that be fecking amazing.
**Strengths:**
Coordination and a very good memory, at least when I am actively memorising. It's why I originally wanted to study medicine. My everyday memory is pretty damaged, to be honest. Apart from that, I am a very loyal and dependable person.
**Weaknesses:**
Social interactions. I do feel like this is important, so I'd like to include this: I do hope that you're not creeped or weirded out by someone with depression, anxiety and self esteem issues or who tends to be emotional at times, as that has been a huge factor in my life.
I would prefer someone who is not a very social or popular person. Not because I wish loneliness on anyone, but because I think that the more you have of something, the more you will take it for granted. I am selfish enough to want to be special and appreciated in that regard, instead of considered disposable.
I believe that me always having been alone has it advantages and disadvantages. One of the disadvantages would be that I often feel overwhelmed with groups and don't like crowds at all. I feel anxious around people and will often not know what would be right. This has often lead to me being ignored, me living as a ghost, my attempts at socialising being a one-way street.
However, I believe it also has advantages. I know the value of people I like and people around me, because they are rare, and will not take anyone for granted.
**Partner ideal personality:**
I am into wholesome, down to earth and reserved people who are reliable, caring and know what they want. I like calm people - mainly because I often fail to be.Many guys tend to make a big deal about their experience, but I don't really care either way.
I'm a hopeless romantic and one of my biggest dreams in life include having someone who cares for me, treats me kindly and is protective. If you share my dream of living in a hut in the wilderness with a basement designated for two people gaming one day and big cities are not your cup of tea, that's a huge plus.I have a "live and let live" mindset and it would be ideal if you had that, too.I'm a friend of individualism and emancipation, meaning to take responsibility for myself and caring about my own stuff, instead of poking into other people's lives. Mainly because I have been teased a lot for my hobbies, I do not do that to others.I am a person who seeks harmony, but does not avoid conflict, despite not enjoying it. However, relationships having ups and downs is completely normal.
If you're someone who runs away at the first inconvenience, rather than wanting to build a stable enough basis that no matter if we disagree or argue, we can always talk about anything honestly and openly and would support each other, we might not get along. This means, I believe that being kind and avoiding harsh truths does not make you a good person. I also believe that honest conflict has more value than fake harmony. Hence, I highly dislike cowardice.
Personally, I have been through my share of hardship and I believe this has made me resilient. I know myself and I know what I want. I know my strengths and weaknesses.I hope you do not consider me a judgemental person after reading through this.
**Partner ideal hobbies:**
Gaming with me and ideally having a similar ethical mindset. If we can talk about random topics for long times and/or watch Anime together, that'd be a great bonus.
**Partner ideal appearance:**
Appearance is a big deal, I've heard. I don't care much about height or weight - dated from very thin/small to very big/tall. I care about self care though. And as much as I want to stay at home, game and cuddle, I'd also love to go out and try out new restaurants, and would love to be able to show myself with my partner. Plus, I believe that someone who wouldn't take care of himself and treat himself poorly, wouldn't treat me any better. Don't have a prefered type, though I have a thing for pale and "nerdy", whatever that may mean. If you've read until here, let me know your favourite food. Also, let's exchange pictures, since it's always good to "see" who you're talking to. I don't like anonymity.
**Dealbreakers:**
Smoking, religion, substance abuse and pseudoreligious views.
Also, a lifestyle that fundamentally differs from mine. Not because I would judge – I am really happy if everyone can just life their lives to their fullest, without anyone sticking their noses into it – but it would not be for me.
If you feel like we could get along well or you just want someone to talk to (or perhaps you're looking for someone to play WoW classic/raid in other MMO/play some MtG/HS/TESL/boardgames/chess with, feel free to drop me a message.I will definitely reply! I don't care about age, distance, etc.
**People I would like to message me:**
\- Those who are looking for a meaningful and lasting relationship to offer each other care and stability
\- Those who have goals and want to support and inspire each other
\- Those who want to play some video games together
\- Those who would like to get to know each other
\- Those who value reason highly as well as having reasonable, inspiring conversations\- Those who would like to exchange some life experiences. Especially people who had lows and always strive to stay optimistic are ones that I admire.
\- Those who are looking for a reliable, constructive, non-shallow friend as well as offer to be one\- Down to earth, humble and kind people with a good heart I will do my best to reply to your message asap, promise
\- even if I think it won't work out! The only exceptions are creepy messages/profiles, throwaway profiles and "hey". I don't mind a long distance relationship, so anywhere is fine, if we like each other (offering a free refuge to a special someone, if they are from overseas XD).
That was a long ride. After writing all that much about myself, I'd be delighted to read your introduction, too. :) Have a good evening/morning/day, wherever you are.

For questions specifically concerning bootlegs or vendor legitimacy, please ask in the Bootleg Megathread.
NSFW & Spoiler Guidelines
  • For Self Posts: include a bolded NSFW note next to links in that post.
  • For Links to sites/images: If the figure is NSFW, or the website has any NSFW content (including ads) be sure to tag your post NSFW and use the appropriate link flair.
Bootlegs
Any collection posts containing bootlegs, comments advocating buying bootlegs, or links to sites selling bootlegs, recasts, or unlicensed merchandise will be removed.
People often ask about the legitimacy and/or safety of a number of websites which sell large resin statues. The more commonly-asked of those deal primarily in resins from studios which do not have a license from the Japanese IP holders to produce merchandise. Therefore links to those sites are not permitted here. Another sign is if MyFigureCollection doesn't list the either the statue, its manufacturer, or the shop it's being sold on.

Buying & Shipping

1. What’s the best place to buy my anime figures from?
That’s going to depend a lot on what works for you, but most people around here buy them from Amiami, Big in Japan, Hobby Search, HobbyLink Japan, or Tokyo Otaku Mode. If none of those work for you for whatever reason, there’s a list of reputable retailers in the sidebar that you can check out at any time. Be extra careful when ordering figures from websites like Amazon or ebay, as there are a lot of bootlegs on those sites. Don’t be afraid to ask in our Bootleg Megathread if you’re unsure.
2. What differences are there between the shipping options I get from most Japanese shops?
Below is a rundown of the main shipping choices you’ll get at most retailers. Keep in mind that if an order is large enough you will be forced to use one of the more expensive options, as SAL shipments have lower size and weight restrictions.
  • Unregistered SAL: Sometimes referred to as uSAL, is usually the cheapest method. It does not come with any tracking or insurance. Usually takes up 2-4 weeks for delivery.
  • Registered SAL: Sometimes referred to as rSAL, is insured for the declared value up to 6,000 yen. It comes with a tracking number and usually takes 2-4 weeks for delivery.
  • EMS: This method of shipping is much faster than either SAL options, usually arriving within a week of shipment. EMS shipments are insured for the declared value up to 2,000,000 yen.
  • Airmail
  • E-packet
  • Surface: Shops don't offer this very often. It's an actual cargo ship and slow as a result.
  • DHL: Becoming more available as an alternative to EMS on AmiAmi and other sites. Can be less expensive than EMS and of comparable speed, but may be more reliant on the specific geographical area being shipped to. Offers their own tracking.
3. I placed two+ orders for figures at different times. Will my items be shipped together, or will I have to pay shipping twice?
Most shops will ask you to pay shipping on a per-order basis, but here are some that will allow combined shipping:
  • Amiami: You can combine orders here, as long as the orders ship in the same month. It doesn’t matter if the item is new or preowned. Any preorders that are set for that month can also be combined with other orders for that month. However, be aware that if the preorder gets delayed, Amiami will remove that item from that month’s shipment and place it on a new order. To combine orders on Amiami, use the “Combine Orders” feature under “My Account”.
  • Hobby Search: Hobby Search will let you combine orders that release in the same month, but you cannot combine in stock items with preorders. If you want to combine multiple preorders, or multiple in stock items, you can do so using the “Order Recombination” feature on your account page.
  • HobbyLink Japan: At HLJ, you have the option to send paid orders to their “Private Warehouse”, where you can store them for up to 2 months. When you’re ready to ship the items, you simply select which items to ship and HLJ will combine them into one shipment for you. To use this, just select the “Private Warehouse” option as shipping when you order.
  • GSC Web Shop: Here you’ll pay a flat 2,000 yen fee per order. It doesn’t matter how many items you put in your order, or how many different months the items release in. They will charge you 2,000 yen and ship all items as they release. The exception to this rule is their Wonder Festival exclusive items. Those can only be placed in the same order as other Wonder Festival items.
If you’re unsure about whether or not a shop we haven’t listed will combine your orders, please refer to their individual FAQ’s.
4. When will I get charged for my preorder?
Most Japanese shops charge you once the item is in stock and ready for shipment. When that happens, they will send you an email asking for payment. Some shops (mostly overseas ones), will allow you to pay for the item up front though, if you’d like. A few with that option are:
  • Big in Japan (Japanese store)
  • Tokyo Otaku Mode
  • Anime Island
  • Crunchyroll
Keep in mind that overseas stores will likely get the figure a few months after Japanese ones, so pay attention to the release date stated on the website you are buying from so as to avoid that confusion.
5. Should I expect to pay customs fees when importing figures?
That depends on where you live. Here’s a quick rundown:
  • Australia: 10% GST is now assessed up front.
  • Canada: Minimum declared value for charges is around CAD$20 for regular shipments, and CAD$60 for gifts (gifting something only seems to lower the declared value by about CAD$40, not deplete it completely). When using Amiami, try their Small Air Packet option. It comes with tracking, gets there in about the same time as EMS, and is better at avoiding customs.
  • Europe: Using EMS raises your chance of getting charged for customs. SAL can still avoid customs in some countries, but generally gets checked in the UK now if the items are above the threshold. Amiami offers a shipping service called “Small Air Packet” that is really good for avoiding customs when you are only shipping one or two figures. Small Air Packet usually takes about the same amount of time as EMS, and still comes with tracking. The minimum declared value for customs charges in the Europe is pretty low- around £15 (£36 for gifts) / €20.
  • Mexico: Minimum declared value for customs fees is USD$300 for shipments by post, and USD$50 for shipments by courier.
  • United States: A shipment has to have a declared value of USD$2,000 before customs starts hitting you with fees, so you most likely won’t have to worry about them at all.
6. The figure I want is an exclusive, how do I go about ordering one outside of Japan?
You have three options for this:
A. Big in Japan is known to stock exclusive figures and ship to other countries. Usually the price is higher because they build in their proxy fees, but it’s easier than worrying about using a forwarder or proxy service. If you live in the US, Crunchyroll, Right Stuf, and Tokyo Otaku Mode also get exclusives sometimes, but out of the states the shipping can get expensive.
B. Forwarding Services: A forwarder is someone who you ship an exclusive item to so that they can forward the package on to you, usually for a flat fee + shipping. When using a forwarder you still make the purchase yourself, and enter their address into the shipping field. When the box arrives at the forwarder they will then stick your address onto the package and send it on its way.
Some popular forwarders are:
Be sure to read each sites instructions on forwarding carefully!
C. Proxy Services: With a proxy, you tell them what the item you’re looking for is and they will purchase it in your stead. This is handy for when a company doesn’t accept foreign credit cards, or you’re having trouble navigating a Japanese website.
Some popular proxies are:
Again, be sure you thoroughly read through each sites proxy instructions.
7. I see a bunch of really cheap figures that ship from China on ebay. Are those okay to buy?
Generally, no. They’re most likely bootlegs. If you want a second opinion on that, feel free to ask in the Bootleg Megathread that’s always stickied at the top of the sub.
8. What’s a bootleg, and how can I avoid buying them?
A bootleg is a counterfeit figure often made using rejected molds of the official product. They are usually priced significantly lower than the genuine article, and in order to make their profit, bootleggers use lower quality materials and have less attention to detail- resulting in a substandard figure.
The Bootleg Megathread that I mentioned in question 7 is a great tool to avoid buying any bootlegs. It has a few tips and tricks to avoiding them to begin with, and a few more on how to spot them if you’re worried you might already own one.
9. Does anyone know when figure X is going to be released? How do I know if it was delayed?
My Figure Collection (sometimes referred to as MFC) does an excellent job of staying on top of information like release dates and delays. If you’re curious about an upcoming figures release date, check there first. This information can be found directly under the “Releases” section on a figure’s entry. If you only see a month and a year in that section, it means the release date has not yet been announced by the manufacturer, and there is still a chance the figure could be delayed.
If you make an account on MFC you can also subscribe to comments, changes, and pictures via a checkbox on the right hand side of a figure’s listing. Subscribing to any of these things will allow MFC to send you an email anytime the subscription in question updates. Subscribing to “changes” is a great way to keep up with release dates and delays, among other things.
10. The figure I want is long sold out at normal retailers! What’s the best place to pick it up in the aftermarket?
A list of reputable retailers can be found under the “Shops” section of the /AnimeFigures sidebar. They all sell legitimate products, and many of them also sell figures second hand. However, the most frequently suggested second hand sites are Mandarake and Amiami- who has a preowned section that they update every night save Sundays and Japanese holidays around 1PM JST and again around 6PM JST.
AmiAmi grades their pre-owned items on a letter scale. The general consensus from buyers is that their ratings are conservative, so unless the item and/or packaging is specifically indicated as having significant flaws, pre-owned items from them are usually in at least as good a condition as their rating suggests.
Note: When you search Mandarake, you’ll get the best results by using the Japanese characters for whatever you are searching. If you don’t know them, you can find them on MFC by clicking on any of the “details” in that figure’s listing.
11. Amiami has a figure I’m interested in labeled as “For sale in Japan only”. Does this mean I can’t order it without a proxy or forwarder?
No, you can still order it. Amiami’s English site has that warning on many items, and it’s mostly meant to inform you that this product was made for a Japanese market, and as such, will have Japanese speaking/writing in it- so don’t expect any instructions to be in English. If Amiami doesn’t want foreigners buying a certain product, they won’t even list it on their English site.

Displaying Your Figures

12. What display cases do you recommend?
If you live near an Ikea try out one of these:
*If you decided on a Detolf, you might find that there is a lot of wasted space. Here are a few tutorials on raising the shelves or and adding extra ones in.
If you don’t live near an Ikea, Amazon has a few display options, though they are more expensive. Also keep an eye on your local Craigslist (or your country’s equivalent) and stores near you that are closing up.
13. What lighting do you guys recommend?
Ikea’s Dioder LED strips are often suggested. They come in white or muti-colored.
Most hardware stores carry something similar though, if you don’t live by an Ikea. Just make sure that the lights don’t get too hot!
14. What are those clear plastic boxes that I see under everyone’s figures in their collection posts, and where can I get them?
Those are called risers. Most of us use standard acrylic risers like these. Some other, easy to find things that have been suggested are:
Check your local hobby store for the first 2 options, or your local hardware store if you want to make your own.
Another common suggestion is to visit The Container Store if you have one near you. They have a lot of things to choose from that can suit a variety of needs. Be sure to check out their standard acrylic risers, their Amac boxes, and the various display cases they sell (baseball cases, mini car cases. hockey puck cases, etc).
15. Should I keep my figures sealed?
That is, of course, up to you really, but here are a few things to keep in mind when debating this question:
  • Keeping it sealed can actually damage your figure. PVC figures usually have something called plasticizer in them, and that plasticizer needs to be able to breath. If a PVC figure isn’t exposed to oxygen, after a period of time the plasticizer starts to break down and form a sticky substance on the surface of the figure. Simply opening your figures and taking them out of the box prevents this from happening. If you happen to find plasticizer goo on one of your figures, Kahotan has a handy guide for dealing with it.
  • Unlike some other figure markets, keeping an anime figure sealed won’t raise its value by a whole lot. In fact, because of the plasticizer problem mentioned above, your figure could actually be in better condition if you open it versus keeping it sealed.

Finding the Right Figure(s) for You

16. There are so many figure companies! Who makes good figures?!
Obviously this is a very subjective question, but as a general starting point, here are a few well renowned figure companies:
  • Alter
  • Max Factory
  • Good Smile Company
  • Kotobukiya (usually hit or miss for people. Use your best judgement based off of the prototype)
  • Aquamarine
  • Flare
  • Stronger
17. I really love “series X / character X”- how can I check if any figures were ever made for it?
My Figure Collection can be your best friend here. Simply do a search on the name of the series or character using the search bar located at the top right of the screen, and all associated figures pop up!
Alternatively, if you’re looking at a figure’s MFC entry, most of the text under the “Details” section can be clicked on and used to run a search.
18. How can I commission a custom figure?
None of the major figure companies (Alter, Kotobukiya, Good Smile Company, etc.) will take a commission for a single figure. This thread has a few websites in it that you can check out, or you can look into garage kits. Some kit painters would be willing to resculpt, frankenstein together, or otherwise modify kits for the right price.
If you're looking for help completing a garage kit, /brushforhire may be useful.

Keeping Up with New Announcements

19. How can I keep up with figure news (announcements, updates, etc.)?
Most people use a MFC combined with any or all of the following news sites:
To use MFC for this I’ll quote question #9.
Most companies have one or more Twitter accounts. Some examples: Good Smile Company sales, Good Smile's USA branch, Max Factory, AmiAmi Hobby News.
20. Everyone’s excited about something called Wonfes….. what the heck is that?!
WonFes (short for Wonder Festival) is a biannual figure expo where many figure producers (both large and small) show off new sculpts and updates to figures already under way. Most companies save their most exciting announcements for WonFes, so we all look forward to the expo whenever it rolls around! Winter Wonder Festival is usually held in February, while Summer Wonder Festival is usually in July. The event has also spread to Shanghai, in the late spring.
21. One or two (or 15) figures were announced at WonFes that I’m really excited about! How can I keep track of their progress once the event is over?
MFC is always really quick about getting new WonFes announcements (or any others throughout the year, for that matter) listed in their database, so we suggest using that. To find a figure from the event you can search any number of things, including the name of the character or the name of the show. You can also use the tag search to search “WonderFestival 20xx_[season]” to see all items announced at that event.

2020.09.24 14:29 Senpaiwakoko Used and ghosted in Tokyo

This happened 7 months ago but I still think about it every now and then even if I shouldn't. I matched with this cute girl on Tinder, we hit it pretty quickly, talked everyday and went on 2 dates the first month. On the third date couple weeks after the 2nd date, we kissed and later pronounced each other as a couple. Oddly she got a bit silent. Her replies usually took 1 hour to respond but now it took 6 hours. I only sent a few passive messages to not appear too ''clingy''. But I knew something was going on when my last message never got a ''read''. Easy to assume I was removed from her friendlist on the LINE chatting app. I never got the reason why she would do that, she seemed so happy after we became a couple. Wanting to visit my country and everything. Almost like she regret everything the day after. like a bad hangover. Maybe she did.
I searched online and it was not uncommon that Japanese people break up without official statement and prefer to start ghosting their partner in order to avoid possible conflict. What also struck me later was the she was likely an gaijin hunter (Japanese person who pursues foreigners for free english lessons or wanting a relationship, first kiss or intercourse experience with a foreigner) It would explain her white fever since she was regularly reposting cringy tiktok videos of white guys being cute or macho in front of the selfie cam. Upon reading more about gaijin hunters and the different things that other foreigners have experienced, I learned that gaijin hunters are not loyal partners who plan to stay with you for a long time, your purpose is mostly to fulfill their fantasy, and while they may be dating you, they are still looking for their ideal partner. This does not represent the average Japanese person let me just say that, Gaijin hunters are a minority. I were just an unfortunate victim.
A month later she happily announced on her instagram she was in relationship with another guy. (Didn't say anything when we got together) But this time it wasn't another white guy though. What I don't understand is why she would do that. I would be guilt ridden for the rest of my life if I did that to a girl who were genuinely interested in me. After 4 years of doing various dating apps, I finally found someone who was interested in me and had my first meeting from there. Only ended to being used. Not the Tokyo love story I expected to have.
I posted a similar but shorter story on another Japan Life forum where I was mostly being pointed and laughed at while people were saying ''You have never dated someone in Japan unless you've been ghosted'' Didn't make me feel any better.

2020.09.24 09:34 stroopwaffen797 i am taking boyfriend applications.

i am taking boyfriend applications. to date me, you must be white or from a spanish speaking culture. age 21-35. Christian preferred. include in your application: your opinion of japan, your opinion on the 2nd amendment, your opinion on vaccines, and a picture of your fursona. FURRIES ONLY! I don't care about what you look like IRL. i will also not associate with people who eat cows. note that you will also be dating my tulpa named Eerie, and possibly a new tulpa in the future that I'm currently working on. Do not apply if you are too scared to meet me IRL within a year of us chatting online.
details about me: i am mixed white and 24 years old. I have recently awoken to Jesus, and to the fact that everything that appears on TV is fake as a rule. I prefer fantasy to reality almost always, but that still doesn't change the quintessential truth that real friendships and family are the only things that hold any value. I believe that monogamy is the only way. please do not be perturbed by the fact that you will also be finding yourself dating two tulpas long with me. Me, and many members of the tulpa community, do not believe that in-system dating counts. it just doesn't count, it's different. I would never pursue a relationship in the material world with anyone but you, my one true love. I am a writer and I am writing several screenplays about adventures that me and my tulpa Eerie go on in the astral. they are action-adventure stories inspired by Mad Max and kung fu. I also play Rainbow Six Siege several hours a week, and I have seen over 1,000 movies.

2020.09.24 03:05 AutoModerator General Questions Thread, September 24, 2020

A thread for new collectors to ask basic questions of the community.
Frequently Asked Questions below!
A longer version of the subreddit rules is here.
MyFigureCollection
My Figure Collection is like MyAnimeList... but for figures! Their database includes thousands of items which been produced during the last couple of decades, along with reviews of shops and other helpful articles. One can also list their own collection and post gallery photos.
